TOC and Text (OR How this book is organized)
This is the first of a series of Pangalang Pinoy books. In this book, we set the trend of Pangalang Pinoy using our national language: Filipino
This book is divided into 10 thematic chapters, corresponding to 10 initial categories in the blog.
Thematic chapters
- Virtues and Values – names that describe positive virtues or values. It gives a baby a natural life-long affirmation of a positive virtue or value. Examples: Bayani, Mayumi, Dalisay

Although some of these names come from foreign soap operas, they have been adopted into the Filipino psyche and form part of Pinoy pop-culture. Examples: Alwina – lead character in “Mulawin” TV series portrayed by actress Angel Locsin; Marimar – a character from a soap opera of the same name.

Each thematic chapter will begin with a chapter introduction describing the set of names. The chapter introductions will include anecdotes that will open the possibilities for using these names for reader’s babies.
At the end of this book, you will find a description of how to choose a name, how to make your own name, and how to contribute to the next edition of this book through this website.
How to use this blog
First, let me describe how I am using this blog to write this book.
Second, I will describe how you, the Pangalang Pinoy community, can participate in writing this book.
I am using this blog to compile and pre-publish for public review my thematic chapters and the names in the chapter.
By publishing online, I aim to gather feedback from the public on how I can improve the chapters, how I can improve the list. This is also a way to verify whether the names settle well with prospect users. Consider this blog as a “market research” where I get to know my audience and what they’d like to see in the book I publish.
It is also my way of compiling my list where I have public “accountability” in writing within my timeline.
How readers can contribute
As you read through this blog, I would appreciate receiving feedback.
How to give feedback:
- Rate: For each published chapter, I will have a rate tool where you can give your thumbs up or thumbs down.
- When I publish chapter intros, you can ask clarification questions or give general feedback on the chapter. What do you like about the chapter? What don’t you like about it and how can it be improved?
- Under specific names, you could write your comments about the name. What definition can help describe the name better. Does the name settle well with you?
What’s in it for readers?
For the top 100 readers who give feedback, I will give them a complimentary copy of the book, complete with my autograph … which is priceless!
